Radiesse

RADIESSE Wrinkle Filler is for Facial Sculpting and Liquid Lifts

Fill deep lines and wrinkles with Radiesse Volumizing Filler

Radiesse is a fabulous product that has been safely in use for around 25 years for many uses.  When placed in the deep folds of the skin by injection, Radiesse promotes collagen synthesis which helps rebuild structure in our skin and keeps it from sagging.  The chemical basis of this injectable product is calcium hydroxyappetite, which is a naturally occurring component in the human body.  It is formulated in a gel carrier that over time is reabsorbed by the body and the calcium hydroxyappetite is mostly reabsorbed over time however it causes approximately 30% residual effect of collagen neogenesis- the production of new collagen where the active product was.  This helps firm the overlying skin and lessens the appearance of deep folds.

In 2006, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Radiesse for the correction of facial atrophy associated with HIV Drugs.  Therefore Radiesse is a perfect sculpting agent for cheeks, chins, noses, jaw lines, deep folds around the mouth (marionette lines) and volumizing the face due to loss of volume from age, gravity and weight loss.  It can also be used to enhance cheek bones and give symmetry to the face lasting one year or longer before requiring touch ups. Individual results vary depending on ongoing age changes and weight loss which may require sooner touch ups.

Radiesse can be combined with BOTOX and other procedures to achieve maximum results in facial appearance improvement and facial rejuvenation.  The advantage of Radiesse is that it is not permanent and the modeling and contour effects of the product in skilled hands appears completely natural.

The procedure itself requires minimal down time and the most common side effect is temporary bruising at the injection sites.  Some firmness and swelling may last several days so the appointment should be timed with these considerations in mind.

Topical numbing is usually all that is required for pain management and the product itself is mixed with Lidocaine which is used for dental and other local anesthesia needs.   After the procedure simple ice packs are used to minimize bruising and discomfort.

The cost of Radiesse treatments vary for which areas of the face need revolumizing.  The cost can be anywhere from $350 for a .8ml syringe placement to $650 for a 1.5 ml syringe.  Many times several syringes are required to treat multiple areas in one session to achieve optimal facial rejuvenation, also known as a “LIQUID LIFT”.  Multiple syringes are usually discounted in price when used during the same session.

Touch ups every 9 – 12 months is ideal to maintain the desired results and usually less syringes are needed then the original treatment; however ongoing aging and weight loss can affect this also.
